William Fry's Carol Plunkett and Nora Lillis win awards at 2016 Europe Women in Business Law Awards

17th June, 2016: Last night, in an evening hallmarking the best female lawyers in Europe, William Fry saw two Partners emerging as winners at the annual Europe Women in Business Awards. Carol Plunkett took home the award for ‘Best in Litigation” Lawyer in Europe, while Nora Lillis was awarded ‘Best in Trusts and Estates’ Lawyer in Europe.

Carol Plunkett, who was awarded ‘Best in Litigation,’ having been nominated in three different categories, has been acclaimed as an “extremely accomplished lawyer” by Chambers Europe 2016. Her commercial litigation portfolio includes work with powerhouse clients such as Merck, GlaxoSmithKline and the Commission for Communications Regulation in disputes ranging from patent and trade mark infringement to statutory appeals and judicial review. Earlier this year she was named by Managing Intellectual Property 2016, as one of the Top 250 Women in IP globally, for her leadership in IP litigation.
The ‘Best in Trusts and Estates’ award was received by Nora in recognition of her work as Head of William Fry’s Private Client Group. Her work in the past year has included advising some of Ireland’s wealthiest families on issues such as business succession. She is also listed in the Citywealth IFC Power Women Top 200 List 2015 and Expert Guides Top 30 for Trust and estates practitioners in the world.

Commenting on the award winners, Bryan Bourke, Managing Partner of William Fry, said, “I am really delighted to see Carol and Nora receive recognition for their dedication and unmatched expertise at such an important event. They are both very deserving of these awards, and their work, for which clients consistently hold them in the highest regard, continues to reflect our standards at William Fry, being the very best. The awards also validate our longstanding focus on gender diversity and build on our recent ranking as the 4th Most Diverse Law Firm in Europe (The Lawyer 100, 2016)”.

Sponsored by Euromoney LMG, the annual European Women in Business Law Awards identifies individual excellence and innovative law firm initiatives. The Awards ceremony, in its sixth year, was held in London last evening. The individual practice area awards recognise female lawyers who have successfully become an influential and leading professional in their chosen field.
