To give the Minister the power to require universities to comply with government guidelines on remuneration, allowances, pensions and staffing numbers in the University sector

Higher Education (Reform) Bill

To modernise the legislative framework underpinning the governance and functions of the Higher Education Authority and the governance structures of the universities

Technological Universities Bill

To provide for the establishment of Technological Universities and the amendment of IOT/DIT, HEA and other Acts

During the Autumn/Winter 2015 Session

Health & Wellbeing (Calorie Posting and Workplace Wellbeing) Bill

To provide for mandatory calorie-labelling in restaurants, takeaways and premises selling non pre-packaged foods and a legislative requirement on all public service organisations to have, and report on, a ‘healthy workplace’ policy in order to support an enabling workplace environment

To allow ratification of UN Convention on Rights of People with Disabilities and to make further technical amendments to disability and equality legislation
