Post Lock-Down: COVID-19 and Construction Contract Challenges
This Presentation reviews the post lock down impacts of COVID-19 on cost, time and quality issues related to recommencement of works under construction contracts.

 

This Presentation, given to the Chartered Institute of Building on 19 May 2020,  reviews the post 18 May 2020 lock down impacts of COVID-19 on cost, time and quality issues related to recommencement of works under construction contracts.

Although construction sites opened up on the 18 May 2020  certain restrictions will continue on the carrying out of construction services/activities. These restrictive measures are reflected in the Health Act 1947 (Section 31A -Temporary Restrictions) (COVID-19) Regulations 2020 and the Health Act 1947 (Section 31 A-Temporary Restrictions) (COVID-19) (Amendment) Regulations 2020 made under the Health (Preservation and Protection and Other Emergency Measures in the Public Interest) Act 2020.

Restrictive measures are also reflected in both guidance and information published by government bodies, WHO and construction industry organisations.
