Lorena is a Partner in William Fry's Asset Management & Investment Funds Department and based in our London office. Lorena has extensive experience in advising a range of leading international asset managers on all matters connected with the establishment and ongoing operation of investment funds (including UCITS, AIFs, private equity funds, money market funds and ETFs) and management companies (both UCITS ManCos and AIFMs) in Ireland. Lorena also has particular experience in the provision of investor-side advices relating to the proposed commitment of capital to Irish funds and advising on EU Sustainable Finance regulation.

Notable work in which Lorena has been involved includes:

  • advising a wide range of asset managers in relation to compliance with the complex regulatory initiatives introduced by the new EU Sustainable Finance regime;
  • representing the Ireland Strategic Investment Fund (managed and controlled by the NTMA) in relation to ISIF's investment in the development by Urbeo Residential of a projected €1 billion build-to-rent platform;
  • the first conversion of a fund (QIAIF) from plc to ICAV status under the Irish Collective Asset-management Vehicles Act 2015;
  • conversion of a leading suite of ETFs to a new settlement model enabling cross-border transactions in the funds to take place in a single international securities depositary (ICSD);
  • establishment of a complex emerging markets UCITS umbrella structure for an award-winning London/Singapore based investment platform; and
  • advising a leading UK mutual fund manager in relation to the establishment of a wide range of infrastructure, emerging market, debt and managed volatility funds.

Lorena is Vice Chair of the Irish Funds ESG Policy, Legal and Regulatory Working Group and a member of the Steering Committee of the newly formed Green Team Network, which aims to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration around sustainability goals across companies within the Irish funds industry.  She also holds a Masters in International (including Environmental and Human Rights) Law from the University of Cambridge 

Lorena is also a member of the 100 Women in Finance, Dublin founding and steering committee.
