Elaine is a Consultant in William Fry’s Banking & Financial Services department having previously been Senior Partner and Head of Department.

She advises on syndicate loans, structured finance transactions, restructurings, leveraged finance, fund finance, large ticket leasing (including aircraft financing), PPP and project finance transactions, derivatives, debt capital market issues, securitisations (including CAT bond issuances) and advises generally on the establishment of financial institutions (including credit institutions, ICAV’s, REIT’s and QIAIFs) and their applicable regulatory regimes.

Recent significant deals:

  • Ongoing advise to the Ardagh Group on its debt issuances, including advising on its recent US$1.8bn Senior Secured and Senior Notes issued as part of Ardagh’s combination deal with Exal Corporation (controlled by Ontario Teacher’s Pension Plan Board) to form Trivium Packaging, one of the largest metal packaging companies in the world.
  • Advised the European Investment Bank (“EIB”) on its funding of the 89MW Oweninny Wind Farm, a JV between ESB and Bord Na Mona.  Also advised the EIB of on its funding of the Ringaskiddy Port Redevelopment by the Port of Cork (a TEN-T project).
  • Advised Patron Capital on its acquisition, financing and disposal of the Northside Shopping Centre, Jacobs Inn Hostel, Spencer Hotel and office blocks at East Point, Dublin.
  • Advised Link Financial Group and Everyday Finance on their successful bid with Cerebrus for Allied Irish Bank, plc.’s €1.1 billion portfolio, Project Redwood which included circa 800 customers.
  • Advised BAMIL on its financing of the PAAMCo Prisma Group and Shires plc (part of the Takeda Pharmaceutical Company).
  • Advised CVC on its financing of Arteria Networks Corporation (Japan).
  • Advising Eirgrid plc on its proposed 700MW Celtic Interconnection submarine power cable together with a fibreoptic link between Ireland and France, an EU Project of Common Interest as part of the European Super Grid.  This is a JV between Eirgrid and RTE (Réseau de Transport d’Electricité).  Also advised Eirgrid plc and SONI on their financing facilities associated with I-SEM (the integrated single electricity market) and their ongoing roles as market operator and system operator.
  • Advised Bank of Ireland on the refinancing of the BAM Bundle 3 Schools PPP Project and the N11 PPP Road Project.

Elaine is a member of the Law Society of Ireland, IBEC’s Public Private Partners (PPP) Group, the Institute of Directors and the Irish Fund Directors Association.
