Employers have a statutory obligation to check and ensure that their employees are eligible to work in Ireland. If a worker is a non-EEA national (including certain nationals of Bulgaria and Romania), he or she must possess a valid employment permit issued by the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Innovation.
