It is reported that two highly profitable Dublin-based Clarion hotels, one in the International Financial Services Centre and the other at Dublin Airport, are for sale. Estate Agent Savilles is quoting €30 million for the 247-bedroom hotel in the IFSC and €10 million for the 165-bedroom hotel at the entrance to Dublin airport. It is reported that approximately €40 million was spent on developing and fitting out the IFSC hotel in 2001.

It is reported that Blackstone is in talks to buy a 25% stake in three iconic hotels once owned by property developer Sean Dunne. The former Berkeley Court, the Towers and Jury’s hotel in Dublin’s fashionable Ballsbridge were reportedly bought by Dunne for a record price of €375 million in 2005. The stake is being sold by Kaupthhing, an Icelandic bank that, along with Ulster Bank and Rabobank, seized the hotels from Dunne in 2009. Blackstone, which owns the suite of Hilton Hotels, is reportedly keen to assemble a portfolio of Irish hotel assets. It reportedly paid €67 million for the nearby Burlington hotel last year.

The five-star Lough Erne Resort near Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh is for sale for a knock-down guide price of €10 million, less than a third of the reported cost of its development. It has recently been reported that the resort has attracted several bidders following its hosting of the G8 summit in June 2013.

It is reported that Ashford Castle, the 83-bedroomed five-star resort in Cong, Co. Mayo, that was made famous 60 years ago by the Hollywood blockbuster The Quiet Man, has been sold for €20 million. The resort, which has welcomed many Heads of State as well as international personalities over the years, was bought five years ago by a property developer for a reported €50 million.
