In Short: New Deputy Governor of Financial Regulation

Cyril Roux will take up the position of Deputy Governor (Financial Regulation) of the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) on 1 October 2013 following Matthew Elderfield’s departure. Mr Roux joins the CBI from the equivalent French financial services supervisory authority, l’Autorité de contrôle prudentiel et de resolution (ACPR). Mr Roux, who holds a PhD in Finance from Harvard University, also has significant industry experience having spent several years with AXA.

The position of Deputy Governor responsible for financial regulation is a statutory role established by the Central Bank Reform Act 2010 which was the framework legislation under which the Irish regulator was restructured as a unified regulator in October 2010. Mr Elderfield was the first appointee to the position.
