NAMA Tenders for Loan Sale Advisors & Considers New Sales Model

November 11, 2011

NAMA has announced that it is tendering for advisors to facilitate the sale of its US and European (including UK) loan portfolios, worth approximately €600 million and €30 billion respectively. NAMA has indicated that loan sales are set to feature prominently in its future strategy as its review of debtors’ business plans is now almost complete. It is reported to be considering revising its current model of selling properties on an individual basis and moving towards a model similar to that adopted in the US during the savings and loan crisis of the 1990s of packaging assets of varying levels of quality. The Agency has stated that it will consider the sale of loans related to “individual assets, whole debtor connections or groups of loans by geography.”
