The second Government Legislation Programme of the new Partnership Governmenthas been published. The Cabinet has approved 25 new Bills for publication. 21Bills are already before the Oireachtas and over 70 proposed Bills are beingconsidered. A new pre-legislative stage for Bills was recently introduced, which meansthat Oireachtas committees can now review the heads of Bills prior to thepublication of the Bill itself. The committees can consult with relevantstakeholders and provide input to the Minister in question while the Bill isstill being drafted.
