William Fry to Host Lawn Tennis Legal Fundraiser in Aid of the American Cancer Society

May 11, 2015

William Fry will host a legal fundraiser on Thursday, 21 May in Fitzwilliam Lawn Tennis Club in Aid of the American Cancer Society. The two-day event, now in its third year, is part of a series of charity events which are organised to coincide with three of the tennis grand slams – the US Open, Wimbledon, and the French Open.

By way of background, Rob Kinas, a partner in the Las Vegas office of Snell & Wilmer, a large US law firm, is the main man behind all of these. He leverages his contacts from the Lex Mundi network of international law firms to organise these events across the US and Europe in an effort to raise research funds for the American Cancer Society. Every time the group raises $150,000, they fund a new major cancer research project – the group is currently funding its third one.

Rob himself is a 10 year survivor of Mantle Cell Lymphoma who benefitted from a new treatment that only became available 30 days after he was diagnosed with the rare cancer. The treatment only became a reality through research, development and clinical trials which were funded by donations to the American Cancer Society. Since then, he has committed himself to raising funds for the American Cancer Society and has co-ordinated and overseen international tennis events in the US, London and Paris for lawyers and business professionals – last year over 7000 people participated in one or more of the events and the network continues to grow.

This is the third year we have hosted one of these events in Dublin in an effort to expand the network to Ireland and we would be delighted if you can join us. The itinerary for the 2015 event is as follows:
Thursday 21 May: Meet in Fitzwilliam Lawn Tennis Club for 2pm, with social doubles from 2.30–5.30pm. Players will partner up with our “Ultimate Ringers”, many of whom have played tennis for Division 1 universities in the US, to play 8-game sets, switching partners after each set. Post-tennis barbeque and mimosa reception in Fitzwilliam from 6.30 pm for all players (hosted by William Fry Solicitors)

Friday 22 May: Champagne and canapés in the upstairs lounge in 37 Dawson Street, Dublin 2 at 6.30pm for all sponsors, guests and players (hosted by Snell and Wilmer attorneys)

William Fry staff are welcome to attend as guests of any aspect of the event. Any additional donations will go directly to the American Cancer Society and can be made
