Clodagh has a particular focus in the evolving areas of artificial intelligence (AI), data protection and environmental, social governance (ESG), and their impact on asset managers. She is a member of the Irish Funds Green Team Network, the William Fry Sustainability Steering and Environmental Committees, and the Financial Services Strategy Group, working closely with the William Fry Technology Department on continuous AI regulatory developments. Her work has been shortlisted by the Financial Times in the Innovative Lawyers Awards.
Recent significant deals include advising:
- leading wealth managers on all aspects of compliance with sustainability-related obligations under the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regime (SFDR) and the Taxonomy, including Article 9 funds seeking to create innovative sustainability solutions for investors and Article 8 funds seeking to mitigate the impact of climate change through decarbonisation on a relative basis;
- a large asset manager with over €14bn in assets registered across 21 jurisdictions on maintaining one of the only self-managed investment fund structures remaining in Ireland, including all regulatory considerations relating to the retention of structure;
- a specialist UK and Singapore-based investment manager on innovative ventures including in the areas of energy efficiency, biotechnology, life sciences and cell technology;
- on the transition and merger of a wide range of investment products following the acquisition of Ireland’s leading wealth and capital markets provider by a leading bank;
- a London-based FCA-regulated adviser managing strategies investing in European micro, small and mid-cap companies, on a significant project to transition the depositary appointed to its smaller companies UCITS strategy between two major providers in the industry.
