William Fry records €1.4bn in Mergers & Acquisitions

April 1, 2010

William Fry is the No 1 Irish law firm for M&A activity in 2010 to date, having advised on deals with a combined value of over €1.4bn, according to figures from mergermarket, the international M&A intelligence house.

These figures are indicative of a growth in M&A activity in the first quarter of the year. This corresponds with a similar growth in Q4 of 2009, which saw 48 deals recorded, as opposed to 28 in the preceding quarter.

Commenting on the figures, Shane O’Donnell, Partner, William Fry said: “We have had a strong start to the year, with noteworthy deals including the $1.1bn sale of Skillsoft plc, the €27m sale of Wolseley Ireland Holding Ltd, which includes Brooks, Heat Merchants and Tubs and Tiles, to WIBHM and the US$90m sale of Trinity Biotech to Stago International SAS. With other deals in the pipeline, I would expect this trend to continue throughout 2010”.

William Fry was also ranked No 1 Irish law firm for global M&A activity in 2009 by mergermarket.
