In Short: Passenger Rights App

Air and rail passengers experiencing problems this summer can access their rights on the spot through a new smartphone app.

Passengers have rights in relation to delays, cancellations, lost or missing luggage and price transparency. Now travellers who are stranded at airports or denied boarding can have easy access to their rights via their smartphone. In the height of the summer travel season, the European Commission has launched a passenger rights application for smartphones. The app sets out entitlements in question and answer format so that travellers can be clearly and accurately informed of what rights apply at that particular moment.

The app is available for free on Apple iPhone and iPad, Google Android, RIM Blackberry and Microsoft Windows Phone 7, in 22 languages.

Free advice to EU citizens travelling and shopping across borders is also available from the European Consumer Centres Network which operates in the 27 Member States along with Norway and Iceland.
