Irish Hotels Suffer in Downturn

Reports indicate that Irish hotels haveseen their values fall sharply in recent months, which is likely to leadto acquisition opportunities.
 
The US-based Livingston Group has reportedly bought the Four SeasonsHotel in Ballsbridge, Dublin for an undisclosed sum. The guide price forthe 197-bedroom hotel is thought to have been around €30m. Ownership ofthe property changed hands from its previous owners, the NollaigSyndicate, on 31 July last.

Recent newspaper reports state that three offers have been made onthe Burlington Hotel, Dublin, purchased in 2007 by a company owned bydeveloper Bernard McNamara for €288 million. The offers are reported tobe only a fraction of that sum. It was reported that McNamara’s purchaseof the hotel from the Doyle family was financed by Bank of Scotland.
