Happy New Year and welcome to the January 2011 edition of our Legal News. Many of the developments we report on this month reflect the legal challenges encountered in the difficult economic environment. We report on recently enacted legislation empowering the Government to restructure the Irish banking system and on the Supreme Court appeal in the McKillen case. We also look at increased regulatory scrutiny experienced by many Irish companies, including additional corporate governance rules for Irish listed companies and new requirements on the signing of auditors’ reports.
