The Chief Executive of NAMA, Brendan McDonagh, has indicated that NAMA would consider transferring a portion of its €31 billion loan book into a mortgage real estate investment trust (REIT), should the necessary legislation to allow it to do so be passed. At a conference of investors, Mr McDonagh is reported to have commented that the REIT structure has been a great success in the US and would also suit NAMA.
