In a positive development for business, the Patents (Amendment) Bill 2011, which provides for Ireland’s accession to the London Agreement on Patents, has passed the Second Stage in the Dáil. The proposed new law will allow for lower costs in the area of translation of patents. Minister for Research and Innovation, Seán Sherlock TD, said that enacting the Bill would “further support Ireland’s efforts to generate economic growth through promoting and innovating better processes and products.” For further information, see Minister Sherlock’s press release on the website of the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation.
