(Re)Insurance News - May 2012

Welcome to the latest issue of (Re)Insurance News.  As many (re)insurance groups are consolidating their books of business, we have a brief article summarising some of the different legal structures that can be used for those consolidations.

We also look at some of the European developments in Solvency II and anti-money laundering that impact on Irish companies. As over a year has passed since the Test Achats decision, we are providing a brief update on Irish implementation of that decision. In our “In Short” feature, companies are reminded that they will need to provide the Central Bank with compliance statements in respect of the Corporate Governance Code before the 30 June deadline.

Our brief article on a recent European decision confirming that unit-linked life-assurance products are insurance contracts will be of interest to the life industry, as will an update on the Central Bank’s guidelines on cross-border selling. The Mediation Bill will be of interest to all (re)insurers and we look at some of the key aspects.

For those of you that are registered for our CounselConnect programme, Eoin Caulfield will be hosting an A to Z of the New Financial Services Regulatory Regime at our offices on 12 June. The event is aimed at in-house counsel and compliance professionals, and you can register through our Events team.
