Seizure of Counterfeit Goods and Apparatus in Dublin

May 18, 2012

As part of an ongoing investigation, Gardai from the Intellectual Property Crime Unit (“IPCU”) of the National Bureau of Investigation seized an estimated €100,000 worth of counterfeit goods during a raid on a house in Cabra, north Dublin, on Thursday 10 May 2012.

It is particularly interesting to note that along with counterfeit clothing, sunglasses and footwear, vacuum packing equipment, an industrial embroidery and labelling machine and other unbranded wardrobe products were also seized during the search.

The Gardai are continuing with their investigation and no arrests have been made to date. The success of the IPCU in seizing counterfeit goods will give some comfort and security to those involved in the design, manufacture and distribution of designer goods.
