William Fry's Investment Funds Practice Continues to Grow

 

William Fry has announced two senior appointments to its Asset Management & Investment Funds Department – John Aherne as Partner and Marion Mellett as Head of Global Fund Registration.  These senior appointments demonstrate the Firms continued growth in 2018 and William Fry’s ongoing commitment to the development of its market-leading Asset Management & Investment Funds practice.

John Aherne joins William Fry from A&L Goodbody as a Partner in our Asset Management & Investment Funds Department and our Financial Regulation Unit. John advises on the establishment, operation and maintenance of Irish fund structures across the UCITS and AIF product spectrum.  He also advises on Irish and European regulatory requirements applying to regulated financial services providers more generally. He has extensive experience covering establishment and licensing of MiFID firms, regulatory change projects, conduct of business requirements, corporate governance, regulatory compliance and change of control requirements. Prior to joining A&L Goodbody, John worked in London as senior legal counsel for HSBC Global Asset Management with particular focus on its European institutional investment management business. John is a member of the Irish Funds MiFID II Working Group and the EFAMA Distribution and Investor Protection Working Group.

Marion Mellett joins the Firm from BlackRock to head up William Fry’s Global Fund Registrations offering. Marion specialises in overseas regulatory registration of Irish, Lux, Swiss and UK domiciled UCITS, UCITS ETFs and AIFs, whether by way of private or public offering, in EU and non EU jurisdictions, including the listing of UCITS ETFs on stock exchanges across Europe, LatAm and Switzerland. She has extensive experience in the ongoing maintenance, regulatory compliance and filing requirements of UCITS and UCITS ETFs in order to maintain registration status and ensure compliance with all regulatory and exchange obligations. Marion also has extensive experience in the marketing (restrictions, exemptions etc) of non-EU and EU AIFs within Europe following the implementation of AIFMD.  Marion is a member of Irish Funds European Distribution Working Group.
