The second Government Legislation Programme of the new Partnership Government has been published. The Cabinet has approved 25 new Bills for publication. 21 Bills are already before the Oireachtas and over 70 proposed Bills are being considered. A new pre-legislative stage for Bills was recently introduced, which means that Oireachtas committees can now review the heads of Bills prior to the publication of the Bill itself. The committees can consult with relevant stakeholders and provide input to the Minister in question while the Bill is still being drafted.
