William Fry’s College Placement Programme offers students a unique opportunity to gain long-term, practical experience in a leading corporate law firm.

Designed for students undertaking formal college placements, the programme runs for 6 to 9 months depending on your college and provides immersive exposure to professional life in a top-tier legal environment. We partner with several universities across Ireland, to offer structured placements across a variety of departments

Hands on experience

Placement students are fully embedded within their assigned departments and treated as valued members of the team. From day one, they receive a comprehensive induction programme that introduces them to the firm’s systems, culture, and expectations. Each student is assigned a manager and mentor, ensuring they have the support needed to succeed and grow throughout their placement.

Professional Development

To ensure continuous development, students participate in a structured feedback process, which includes a mid-placement review and an end-of-placement review . These reviews assess progress, highlight achievements, and identify areas for further growth. The process also informs decisions around potential traineeship offers, which may be extended to high-performing placement students at the conclusion of their placement.

Networking opportunities

Placement students are invited to attend all firmwide social events, including seasonal celebrations and networking events. In addition, regular social activities are organised specifically for placement students, helping them build connections with peers and colleagues across the firm.
