The WFirst Programme is a one-day insight experience designed for first and second year college students from all disciplines.
Held twice a year in January and May, WFirst offers a unique opportunity to gain an insight in life at one of Irelands leading corporate law firms and discover what a legal career at William Fry could look like.

Students on the WFirst programme experience a dynamic and engaging day which include:
- Firm Overview: The session includes a journey through the firm’s history, from its founding in 1847 to its current home at 2 Grand Canal Square, and provides insight into our people, practice areas, and world-class clients. Attendees also learn about our early career pathways, including the Tax and Legal Internship, College Placement Programme, and Trainee Solicitor Programme.
- Skills Workshop: Delivered by our award-winning Professional Development team, the interactive skills workshop challenges participants across core competencies essential for a successful legal career. Through collaborative exercises, attendees test their legal knowledge, commercial awareness, and client care skills in real-world scenarios, gaining a deeper understanding of the high-performance, client-focused environment at William Fry.
- CV & LinkedIn Masterclass: Led by our Talent Acquisition Manager, this session helps students enhance their professional presence. Attendees learn how to build an “All Star” LinkedIn profile, develop a compelling personal brand, and structure a CV that highlights their strengths and achievements. The masterclass equips participants with practical tools to stand out in a competitive market.
- A Day in the Life – Panel Discussion: Current Trainees and College Placement Students share their experiences on the William Fry traineeship, summer internship and placement programmes. They offer insights into the structure, expectations, and opportunities within our early career programmes, and answer questions from attendees about life at the firm, the work they do, and the support they receive.
- Work Shadowing a Trainee: To conclude the day, participants shadow a trainee solicitor, gaining first-hand exposure to the day-to-day responsibilities of a trainee at William Fry. This experience offers a valuable look into how trainees manage their workload, collaborate with colleagues, and contribute to client matters.
