Ezine - IDEA May 2011

Welcome once again to IDEA.

We are very excited to report to you that William Fry was awarded Irish Intellectual Property Law Firm of the Year 2011 by Managing Intellectual Property at its annual global awards ceremony in London’s Dorchester Hotel on April 6, 2011. The award recognises excellence and outstanding achievement in Intellectual Property legal services and we were thrilled to be chosen. It is recognition that William Fry has Ireland’s premier Intellectual Property practice.

In these testing times Ireland’s ability to innovate is one of this country’s greatest assets and we are pleased to be able to support and help companies protect their intellectual property in every sphere to encourage economic growth.

We would like to thank all our clients for helping us to win this prestigious accolade, for giving us the opportunity to work with them and allowing us to demonstrate the strength and depth we have to offer and the commitment and enthusiasm we have in delivering results for clients.

Every year, we celebrate World Intellectual Property Day, designated by the World Intellectual Property Organisation to raise awareness of Intellectual Property, its importance in every aspect of life and to encourage creativity and innovation. This year we did so on Wednesday 4 May.

The theme was “Designing the Future” and we were privileged to welcome Seán Sherlock, Minister of State with responsibility for Research and Innovation at the Department of Enterprise, Jobs and Innovation, and Alfie Kane, Director KCCS, CEO-in-Residence Banker Capital Inc New York and Former Group CEO Eircom who spoke, amongst other things, of their plans and their view of the importance of Intellectual Property in the creation of jobs. One of Ireland’s greatest assets has always been the ability of its people to innovate and more than ever this talent needs to be encouraged to rebuild Ireland.

Finally, if you have Intellectual Property issues, please call one of us. We are here to help and we look forward to hearing from you.
