In Short: Submissions Invited on the Companies Bill

The Joint Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation is inviting written submissions from interested groups or individuals on the Companies Bill in advance of its consideration at the Committee Stage. The Companies Bill was published on 21 December 2012 and seeks to simplify existing company law and consolidate the existing 16 Companies Acts and numerous other regulations. The Bill, the largest in the State to date with over 1,400 sections, also contains significant proposals for reform of the existing law. This is a complex piece of legislation and the consultation process offers all interested parties an important opportunity to clarify certain aspects of the drafting and seek additional changes. The closing date for receipt of submissions is Monday 9 September 2013 at 3pm.
