On Friday 27 March 2020, An Taoiseach announced measures, effective from midnight on Friday 27 March until Sunday 12 April 2020, that required all persons to stay at home in all circumstances, except in certain limited situations.
These restrictive measures on movement, which the government has set out in its guidance, have since been extended to Tuesday 5 May 2020.
