On 20 March 2020, the provisions of the Shareholders’ Rights Directive II became law in Ireland with the publication of the European Union (Shareholders’ Rights) Regulations 2020 (SRD II Regulations). The SRD II Regulations will apply with effect from 30 March 2020, almost ten months after the SRD II transposition deadline of 10 June 2019.
