Ann is a Consultant and Knowledge Lawyer in William Fry’s Asset Management & Investment Funds department.

Ann Shiels

Ann specialises in advising asset managers in relation to the establishment, regulation and ongoing management of a wide variety of investment funds.

Ann has a particular focus on regulatory change for asset managers and investment funds and is a subject matter expert on environmental, social governance (ESG) regulations, and their impact on investment funds. She is an executive director of the Green Team Network, a voluntary Irish funds member firm initiative. She is a member of the Irish Funds ESG working group and Irish Funds Eligible Assets working group and contributes to a consumer protection code sub-group of the Irish Funds Legal & Regulatory working group.

Recent significant work includes advising UCITS management companies and AIFMs on:

  • the implementation of AIFMD 2 / UCITS 6;
  • the evolving regulatory changes to the Sustainable Finance Disclosures Regulation.
