William Fry Appoints Five New Partners as Firm Continues to Grow

Economic Recovery Drives Expansion of Corporate / M&A, Banking & Financial Services and Asset Management & Investment Funds Practices

 

Leading law firm William Fry today announced the appointment of five new Partners across the Corporate / M&A, Banking & Financial Services and Asset Management & Investment Funds practice areas.  The appointments build on two years of continuous growth at the Firm, which now employs 430 people at its new offices in 2 Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2.

Siobhan Carlin has been promoted to Partner in the Banking & Financial Services Department. Siobhan, who holds an LLB in Law from Trinity College Dublin, joined the Firm in 2011 from leading international law firm Linklaters LLP. She is admitted as a solicitor in Ireland, England and Wales and is a member of the William Fry team that is advising the Department of Finance on its shareholding in AIB.

Emily Comber has been promoted to Partner in the Corporate / M&A Department. Emily holds an LLB in Law and French from Trinity College Dublin and an LLM in E-Law and Commercial Law from University College Cork.   She joined the Firm in 2006 and has extensive experience in transactional corporate work, and, in particular, M&A, private equity and venture capital investments, including recently advising the shareholders of Aergo Capital Limited on its sale to funds controlled by CarVal. Susanne McMenamin has also been promoted to Partner in William Fry’s Corporate / M&A Department. Susanne has extensive capital markets experience having acted on a  number of high profile IPOs and takeovers including advising King, the company behind Candy Crush, on its IPO, the largest tech IPO in the US since Twitter. Susanne joined the Firm in 2004 as a trainee and holds a Bachelor of Business and Legal Studies Degree and a Masters in Commercial Law LLM from University College Dublin.

Vincent Coyne, who is based in the Firm’s London office, has been promoted to Partner in the Asset Management & Investment Funds Department. Vincent holds an LLB and a Masters in European and Comparative Law. Vincent joined the Firm from McCann FitzGerald in 2012 and has extensive experience advising on regulatory and structural issues associated with the establishment and management of investment funds in Ireland. Also promoted to Partner in William Fry’s Asset Management & Investment Funds Department is James Phelan. James joined William Fry in 2008 and specialises in UCITS and alternatives and the establishment of both physical and synthetic ETFs.

William Fry also announced the appointment of four new Consultants:  Cassandra Byrne (Projects & Construction), Catharine Dwyer (Asset Management & Investment Funds), Ita O’Sullivan (Corporate / M&A) and Olga Vaughan (Real Estate).

In addition, Laura Buckley (Tax), Niall Campbell (Insurance), Anne Doyle (Real Estate), John Farrell (Technology), Ruth Finnerty (Litigation & Dispute Resolution), Paul Fisher (Insurance), Rachel Fox (Tax), Ciarán Herlihy (Banking & Financial Services), Declan Lavelle (Tax), Elaine Morrissey (Corporate / M&A), Charleen O’Keefe (Litigation & Dispute Resolution), Neil O’Gorman (Corporate / M&A)  and Conor Treacy (Real Estate) have been appointed as Associates.
